Mining was at one time common in the Wichitas. This dam was built across a valley to protect the mines of Silas Isom, one of the last miners in the Wichitas.

Isom built a extensive trail network around his mines. This view shows a trail against a valley wall, with a structure of larger rocks, filled in with rock chips generated from mining.
